She made ginger type cookies using Magnolia petals, since they have a subtle ginger taste. (She also mentioned that they make good tea.)
After watching, I ran to my little cold hardy magnolia tree that is currently blooming (see photo) and pulled some buds to make some tea.
IT. IS. DELIGHTFUL.
I highly recommend everyone go find some magnolia blossoms and make some warming tea on this overcast day. #tea

Wanna hear a story about how tea came to China? After bringing the Sutras out of India, Bhodidharma was trying to establish his practice but kept falling asleep during meditation. Eventually, he became so frustrated that he cut off his eyelids and threw them on the ground. Where Bhodidharma's eyelids fell, two tea bushes magically appeared so that we could all meditate without falling asleep. Haha, gross! But seriously, thanks to Bhodidharma for tea (and the Mahayana). #religion #buddhism #tea

Would've been nice if I'd noticed the book I was reading matched my beverage in time to take a photo BEFORE drinking most of it, but you still get the idea.

This new coffee shop has opened in my neighborhood, and I am thrilled with it so far, especially the excellent baked goods and matcha!

Sleepy Monster in a Teacup
Humans aren't the only ones who enjoy a spot of tea now and again. Little monsters have been know to slip quietly into kitchens when no one is around and sneak a sip of two of freshly brewed sweetness. Alas, some of these tiny creatures may become so enamored with the tea, that they sip themselves silly and fall into a state of euphoria, causing all manner of behavior.
