As someone who left academia ages ago partly because of the perpetually stressful "beggars with PhDs" grants system, you have my sympathies — and admiration for persisting to fight the good fight! The thing is, all these problems are due to the same fascist regime, and American scientists have more power (I hope) than the other oppressed groups. Y'all need to get together and #StandUpForScience! Solidarity! 💪🏽

I suppose next to (or along with) the Periodic Table, the DNA duplex is the most recognizable " #Science "
thing. Nice to see people excited and come up to share their science wears (earrings on one, and this lovely TShirt person I took a selfie with)
I did heed @blogdiva on rally attire and put on a lab coat too!

Carl Sagan is one of those scientists I greatly admired as a child. I watched his series Cosmos on tv and I even bought the book, which was also translated into Dutch, my mother tongue. Sagan is definitely one of those scientists who helped fuel my later interest in science. #StandUpForScience

Rally with speakers, donate mutual aid, learn skills, and play games. Organized by 50501PGH and StandUpForScience. Donations go to the Our Streets Collective & the DSA/Community Forge Free Pantry. We will also have QR codes set up to direct donations to the Greater Pittsburgh Area Food Bank.

Suggested donations: Canned goods, nonperishable items, personal care items (tylenol, cold & flu, bandaids, masks, covid tests, tampons/pads, toothbrush/toothpaste, deodorant, diapers, wipes, formula, shampoo, body wash), tents, sleeping bags, and tarps.
