It “was personal,” #KevinMcCarthy said of Rep Matt #Gaetz’s move to remove him from the #speakership.

“It had nothing to do about #spending,” he said.

“It all was about getting #attention…. I mean, we’re getting email #fundraisers from him.”

That, he said, “is not #governing. That’s not becoming of a member of #Congress.”

“And regardless of what you think, I’ve seen the texts,” McCarthy said. “It was all about his ethics.”

There's growing concern among some #House members who may have to miss the #speakership vote if it keeps dragging out due to various circumstances.

One of them: Rep. Ken Buck (R-Colo.). He missed the 9th ballot after traveling back to his state for a "planned non-emergency medical procedure," a spokesperson told POLITICO.

Buck's office didn't detail a timeline for when he will return.
