forgot I had this cart. I have scooped up #xevious on almost every platform it's been ported to when I could. the 3ds port is probably my favorite. the original xevious and i are the same age.

the screen I see most often in #raycrisis. sem-strut usually eats up all my ships and I inevitably miss a couple of them. that or I get to encroachment 100% and get the "bad" boss that I've yet to beat.
I should lean into save states. I have 4 available on lemuroid. I do wonder if the ray'z cronology has any...

It occurred to me, as I was yeeting marbles and avoiding even the tiniest scratch on my unusually sized rodent body.
Typically, I say that my pattern recognition is pretty awful, hence why I am bad at SHMUPs. I now don't think this is necessarily true.
Admittedly, the SHMUP library of games I have played is pretty limited in the grand scheme of things. Lots of Touhou and a smattering of other games.
I think my issue and where I struggle with SHMUPs is that there is a lot going on. Visually, auditory, etc.
I just can't take it in and cut out the useless noise to focus on what is important.
A new Cotton game is in the works titled "Cotton Reboot! High Tension!" and it's set to be released on July 24!

Looks like the 42nd anniversary of #xevious is either this month or next month for the NA release. I'll be 42 in a couple of weeks and I learned that there was a port of the game to the #3ds, so that'll be my birthday game! just beat the stage 5 boss on #dodonpachi dfk black label novice but nobody told me there was a boss after the boss and it beat my whole ass. i had zero resources left, just my single ship.
i did what i set out to do... i think i'm gonna move on to #raycrisis or something.
Horizontal arcade style shootemup Cycle Chaser H-5 is coming to Switch January 24 (it's been on Steam since 2023). This is another great looking one from Ratalaika Games. It has hand-drawn and vector-rendered 2D graphics, an FM soundtrack produced in YM2612, three weapon styles with three attack types each, and Free Run mode which makes the game accessible for all experience levels (I love stuff like that).
