It seems there's an entire history of Glasgow which no one never knew existed until someone starts putting up plaques about it. And once there are plaques, it must be real, right? This one is by the abandoned railway station in the city's Botanic Gardens, and there are about a dozen similar Glaikit plaques in all at various points around the city.
The inspirational #plaques are hard to make heads or tails of, but that's the point. You get one & muse on it. "Sunshine is the axle of love." "Thank the pine needles for their footsteps." Things like that.
For a price, you can make your own. You're blindfolded & taken into a room filled with #piles of brass slips with nouns & verbs stamped on them. You pick out four & they'll be put on a piece of polished maplewood, with conjunctions & prepositions interspersed. Voila!
Who knew Glasgow had its own Great Train Robbery! This is one of a series of plaques created by the self-style Glasgow Information and Kultural Identity Taskforce (or Glaikit for short) telling amusing, and untrue, stories from the city's past. This one is at the former Kelvinside Railway Station on Great Western Road.
