@selfcaregentle or that you can admit you're never realistically going to do.

Although #PKM and ToDo lists can sometimes feed obsessive behavior, they can also be used to discover that there are things that seem appealing, but that, when they dominate your ToDo list, it can become clear that got can't do then all. You can then set realistic priorities that fit the time available and make sure that the things you don't do are a deliberate choice rather than because you forgot.

Obsidian users should pay attention to the size of their attachments folders. I found several notes today, all downloaded web pages, that had over 100MB of attached files. I used ImageOptim to compress the images, making my vault smaller and syncing faster. #Obsidian #ObsidianMD #PKM

Is #PKM bullshit? Only when it is technology-centric, and not a set of processes, individually constructed, to help each of us make sense of our world and work more effectively. The bullshit is believing in a technology silver bullet, but unfortunately BS sells.

Hard work and discipline do not scale and that is what personal knowledge mastery is all about. This makes #PKMastery a hard sell.

As search engines & productivity tools keep regurgitating the same slop, we move toward “an orthodoxy that ruthlessly narrows public thought”. Generative AI & their hidden algorithms are hacking away at 3 things that human organizations need to learn, innovate, & adapt — diversity > learning > trust ...

So keep on producing human-generated writing, like blogs, & use social media that is not algorithmically generated, like Mastodon.

I enjoyed reading @writingslowly 's post on the pros and cons of publishing all our notes online; working with the garage door up.

My take is that no one needs to see the literary equivalent of us in our underwear! some parts of the thinking process may be best left behind closed doors.
