Alex<p>I've just written my first non toy <a href="https://mastodon.org.uk/tags/pikchr" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>pikchr</span></a> diagram and I can see it potentially replacing <a href="https://mastodon.org.uk/tags/ditaa" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ditaa</span></a> and <a href="https://mastodon.org.uk/tags/artistmode" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>artistmode</span></a> for some of my diagram needs. <a href="https://pikchr.org/home/doc/trunk/homepage.md" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">pikchr.org/home/doc/trunk/home</span><span class="invisible">page.md</span></a></p>

I think it's more powerful (kind of à la TeX/LaTeX, in the sens of not so abstract but lets you shoot yourself in the foot if needed), and would probably allow me to make the graphs I need, allowing me grouping elements in blocks, and being able to draw lines/arrows between any mix of group border and element. A CLI compiler just entered <a href="https://en.osm.town/tags/debian" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>debian</span></a> unstable.</p>

Michael Piotrowski<p>Inspired by the <a href="https://mastodon.acm.org/tags/TikZ" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>TikZ</span></a> examples in the Microsoft report on GPT-4 <a href="https://arxiv.org/pdf/2303.12712.pdf" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="">arxiv.org/pdf/2303.12712.pdf</span><span class="invisible"></span></a>, I tried to have <a href="https://mastodon.acm.org/tags/ChatGPT" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ChatGPT</span></a> draw a stick figure in <a href="https://mastodon.acm.org/tags/pikchr" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>pikchr</span></a>. It doesn’t really work, except as a motivation to read the manual… But it’s impressive how it takes your corrections into account. <a href="https://mastodon.acm.org/tags/GPT4" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>GPT4</span></a> (tried in <a href="https://lex.page" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="">lex.page</span><span class="invisible"></span></a>) seems to produce more elaborate code (with comments!), but it mostly doesn’t work either—and without being able to chat with it, it’s not useful for this purpose.</p>
