🌕 Us Between Two Realms 🌑

Like in all #Nordic cultures, swamps used to be sacred places - places where underworld connected to the land of living. They where places where you would show respect, bring offerings and maybe even mourn the loss of loved ones.

While I was working on this, I kept thinking how fragile the line is that separates these two worlds - and us. One day we are here, standing on a piece of land, never knowing when we cross to the other side.

Well, at least it's not Fish(or Snake) Oil:

Myth: WD-40 Multi-Use Product contains fish oil.

Fact: “Consumers have told us over the years that they have caught some of the biggest fish ever after protecting their fishhooks and lures with WD-40 Multi-Use Product. We believe this legend came from folks assuming that the product must contain fish oil, since it appears to attract fish. Sorry, Charlie®, it just ain’t so.”

And another #mustWatch video from #Andrewism!

Andrewism: *Ranking the Myths of the System*

"The world runs on myths—viral ideas we mistake for truth. They shape what we believe is possible, normal, even inevitable. Let's rank some of the most destructive ones and imagine the stories that could set us free."

The Gargoyles' Eclipse
* Image Credit & Copyright: Bertrand Kulik

Explanation:
In dramatic silhouette against a cloudy daytime sky over Paris, France, gargoyles cast their monstrous gaze outward from the west facade of Notre Dame Cathedral. Taken on March 29, this telephoto snapshot also captures the dramatic silhouette of a New Moon against the bright solar disk in a partial solar eclipse. Happening high in Parisian skies, the partial eclipse was close to its maximum phase of about 23 percent. Occurring near the end of the first eclipse season of 2025, this partial solar eclipse followed the total eclipse of the Full Moon on March 13/14. The upcoming second eclipse season of 2025 will see a total lunar eclipse on September 7/8 and partial solar eclipse on September 21. The partial solar eclipse will be seen only from locations in planet Earth's southern hemisphere.

it's, frankly, rude that one of the COVID variants was called "Centaurus."

Why?

Because Centaurus (the #constellation) is #Chiron -- and Chiron is the wise, just centaur who the #mythological inventor of medicine & surgery.

And thus the rudeness 😂

To learn more about Chiron, check out: starrytimepodcast.podbean.com/

To find out some other least-favorite "Pop Culture" appearances of Centaurus, check out: starrytimepodcast.podbean.com/

In our exploration of the #GreekMyths behind the #constellations, we've talked a fair amount about the Greco-Roman god of the #theater (wine, fertility, arts-- lots of multihyphenates...). So far, Dionysus has shown up in the myths of Corona Australis, Corona Borealis, and Lyra.

But probably my favorite thing about him are his followers -- the Maenads.

Their claim to fame?

Dancing. Singing. Ripping people apart.

Boy o boy it’s Nettwerk Records accounting time! Yes - all those ‘legendary’ (old) records I did back in the 1980s (that’s 40 years ago folks) are still under their ownership and paying bank!🏦 Let’s see what house with swimming pool I will get this year…
