Edward Faulkner<p>I could hardly get my kid to leave <a href="https://toot.cafe/tags/momath" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>momath</span></a>. Genuinely great museum that treats math the way I wish all schools treated it.</p>
Samu<p>In February I gave a popular talk in the “Math encounters” series at MoMath, New York. My topic was the mathematics of X-ray tomography. </p><p>Try out my 5 levels of tomographic brain puzzles in YouTube: <a href="https://youtu.be/ahyUFO_3XB4" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="">youtu.be/ahyUFO_3XB4</span><span class="invisible"></span></a></p><p>Let me know in the comments how many you were able to solve! 😃</p><p><a href="https://mathstodon.xyz/tags/tomography" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>tomography</span></a> <a href="https://mathstodon.xyz/tags/inverseproblem" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>inverseproblem</span></a> <a href="https://mathstodon.xyz/tags/mathencounters" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>mathencounters</span></a> <a href="https://mathstodon.xyz/tags/MoMath" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>MoMath</span></a></p>
Amy Hogan<p>Student, excitedly at the beginning of class: Ms. Hogan, you’ll never guess who I saw yesterday?!</p><p>Student, barely waiting for me to guess: Terence Tao! <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://mathstodon.xyz/@tao" class="u-url mention">@<span>tao</span></a></span> </p><p><a href="https://mathstodon.xyz/tags/mathed" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>mathed</span></a> <a href="https://mathstodon.xyz/tags/mathchat" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>mathchat</span></a> <a href="https://mathstodon.xyz/tags/mtbos" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>mtbos</span></a> <a href="https://mathstodon.xyz/tags/iteachmath" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>iteachmath</span></a> <a href="https://mathstodon.xyz/tags/momath" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>momath</span></a></p>
Mark<p>Back home after a short vacation in New York with the wife. Took in a show featuring Samuel L. Jackson, visited <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/MoMath" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>MoMath</span></a> (the museum of <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/mathematics" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>mathematics</span></a>), had some proper NYC bagels and pizza, and played one of the chess hustlers in Washington Square Park (and actually held my own there for a bit before eventually getting checkmated). Overall, an enjoyable few days in one of the world's great cities.</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/newyork" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>newyork</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/nyc" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>nyc</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/theater" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>theater</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/museums" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>museums</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/chess" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>chess</span></a></p>
Mark L.<p>Back home after a short vacation with my wife during which I spent an enjoyable afternoon at <a href="https://mathstodon.xyz/tags/MoMath" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>MoMath</span></a>, the <a href="https://mathstodon.xyz/tags/museum" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>museum</span></a> of mathematics in <a href="https://mathstodon.xyz/tags/NYC" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>NYC</span></a>. The exhibits were all hands-on and geared toward sparking curiosity among middle- and high-schoolers, which is understandable; nonetheless, I would have liked to see at least a few exhibits aimed more squarely at curious adults. I did appreciate, though, that the &quot;explainers&quot; for most exhibits had a &quot;more info&quot; option that went into further mathematical detail</p>

Katie Steckles<p>In a couple of days&#39; time I&#39;ll be chatting to Tim Chartier at this <a href="https://mathstodon.xyz/tags/MoMath" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>MoMath</span></a> event, which is a book club for teens: <a href="http://momath.org/home/tween-primes" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no"><span class="invisible">http://</span><span class="">momath.org/home/tween-primes</span><span class="invisible"></span></a> It&#39;ll be online at 5pm ET/10pm GMT this Thursday 17th Nov, and I&#39;ll be talking about my book, The Math of a Milkshake.</p>
