My journey through the #Jellyfin ecosystem continues. Yesterday I tried out #Manet (iPhone Jellyfin client that works with #CarPlay w/ local file downloads). Works great! I need to get more playlists organized for easier nav though. An album/artist 'coverflow' view would be cool.

Now to implement a reverse proxy on one of my #cloud services so I can get Jellyfin exposed outside of carrier grade #NAT (#Bell Canada #CGNAT).

Also, converting my #DMZ #Docker host to #Podman (as one does).

Like me, you've probably seen this painting many times. After you read this article, and I hope you do, you'll probably take a closer look at this Manet and hopefully, many other works of art. A short glance doesn't reveal anything close to what the artist had in their mind while painting.

"Bazille's Studio," Frédéric Bazille, 1870.

Bazille (1841-1870) died only a few months after he painted this lovely scene, after enlisting in the Franco-Prussian War. His existing work is precious.

This is a view of a studio he shared with Pierre-Auguste Renoir. While Bazille painted the scene, the figure in the center with the palette was painted by Edouard Manet to be Bazille himself. The man in the hat looking at the canvas on the easel is Manet, while the man at the piano is Edmond Maitre, a friend of Bazille's. The other three are unknown; it's thought that two of them could be Renoir and Monet, but it's impossible to tell. Alfred Sisley and Emile Zola might also be included.

Above Maitre's head is a still life by Monet, and a small landscape by Renoir is just to the right of the window. Other paintings are Bazille's, that had been rejected by the 1866 Paris Salon. So here Bazille is thumbing his nose at the stodgy Salon establishment...

Of course, now Impressionism itself can seem old-fashioned and stodgy...what happens to the anti-establishment crowd when they become the Establishment? Hard to say...but at least we have this charming and inventive painting to study.

An Impressionist scene. We are in the artist's studio, with several men looking at various things The walls are blue, and a large window, partly covered, is in the far wall. Paintings hang on the walls and are stacked vertically as well. A slipcovered sofa and armchair are unused. In the middle rear, a painting stands on an easel; the artist, with palette in hand, stands by, while two look at it. Another man sits and plays a piano at the far left, and on the far right a man sits on a table while another climbs a star and looks down at the seated man, as if conversation.
