F35 Flying The Jedi Transition

The Joint Strike Fighter, the F35 Lightning is the latest in high performance aircraft that the United States has built. This is a stealth aircraft that was designed for air superiority and ground support for the US and NATO armed forces.

F35 Flying The Jedi Transition This is an image flying through what is known as the Jedi Transition or Star Wars Canyon just outside of Death Valley National Park. Captured near the Father Crowley's scenic overlook. The jet is flying below the rim of the canyon so I captured this image shooting down on the jet. The full detail of the top of the aircraft is in plain view. You can see the distorted heat trail coming out of the back of the jet. In the background looms the northern wall of the canyon. The wall is completely barren exposed brown rock.

F18 And The Jedi Transition #1

This F18 came in low as it passed the Crowley Point overlook. This was the 5th flight through the canyon for the day and the second F18 Hornet. As I watched these jets power through the canyon I noticed that there were a number of them that came from the same unit based on their tail markings.

F18 And The Jedi Transition This is an image of a US Navy F18 flying through what is known as the Jedi Transition just outside of Death Valley National Park near the Father Crowley's overlook. The area is also known Star wars Canyon, the official name of the area is Rainbow Canyon. The fighter jet is flying below the rim of the canyon practicing low level flying. Here you can see the top of the jet as it flies through the canyon. The canyon floor and rocky walls can be seen in the background.

F18 Lightning In Star Wars Canyon This is an image of a US Navy F18 Lightning captured from above as it flies through Rainbow Canyon, otherwise known as the Jedi Transition. This was captured from near the Father Crowley's overlook just outside of Death Valley National Park. The jet is flying down low in the canyon allowing the capture of the top side of the jet. The far canyon wall is seen across from the jet.

Black Nights F18

After a number of F18 Super Hornets flew past me in the Jedi Transition I noticed this one was different. I saw the colors on the fuselage and tail that made this one stand out. So now I'm wondering what makes this one so special?
Anyways, this one came through at eye level on my side of the canyon and like all the others it was exciting to watch.

Black Nights F18 This is an image of a US Navy F18 jet captured as it flies through Rainbow Canyon near the Father Crowley's Overlook. Rainbow Canyon is also known as Star Wars Canyon or the Jedi Transition. There the US Navy Black Night jet is shown flying extremely fast at eye level as they make the pass through the canyon. The jet is a two seater and you can clearly see both in this image. The background is the opposite side of the canyon. It is a steep, baren, rock wall. The pilots use this are for low altitude flight training.

This F18 came in just below eye level as it passed the Crowley Point overlook. He was the second flight through the canyon for the day. The area is used for a training ground for US and NATO forces so that they can practive low level flight training. Here we have a McDonnell-Douglas F18 Hornet banking hard left near the Father Crowley Overlook. The background is the north wall of Rainbow Canyon.

F35 Lightning Vertical In The Valley This is an image of the F35 Joint Strike Fighter built for the united States MIlitary and Allies flying through Rainbow Canyon in Death Valley National Park. This area is also known as the Jedi Transition and Star Wars Canyon. I captured this on an overlook just east of the Father Crowley Lookout. This jet dropped into the canyon early and as it came through the Father Crowley Overlook area had to bank hard left bringing him almost deirectly in front of me.
