Well said. They just keep pushing up demand without notably increasing supply. Transparently supporting the haves over the have-nots.

"Here we are in 2025, and the major political parties continue to say that the way to make homes cheaper is to increase the amount that people will be able to pay to buy a home.

"It’s not like we lack about 25 years’ worth of evidence that this approach has failed."

This pediatrician was studying familes facing #FoodInsecurity and #housing insecurity. #NIH just cancelled his grant, claiming “Research programs based primarily on artificial and non-scientific categories, including amorphous #equity objectives, are antithetical to the scientific inquiry." United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs - Occupied Palestinian TerritoryHumanitarian Situation Update #280 | Gaza Strip | United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs - Occupied Palestinian TerritoryIntensive military operations, displacement orders, the blockade on the entry of all aid and commercial supplies and shrinking humanitarian space are driving what is likely the worst humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip since October 2023.

"The interest rate for the most popular U.S. home loan jumped to 6.81% last week, its highest level in two months, following a turbulent week for financial markets as President Donald Trump pressed on with a deepening trade war...

"Mortgage rates closely track the 10-year Treasury note yield, which had its biggest weekly rise last week since 2001.

"The increase in yields reflected a drop in investor appetite for U.S. government debt, and came as Trump suspended some of his newly imposed tariffs even as he boosted levies on China, the biggest U.S. trading partner."

#Labor and the Coalition (#LNP / #Liberal / #Nationals) are engaging in the most reckless election campaign in living memory, according to #economists who warn the major parties’ #policies will *inflate house prices*, damage the #budget and make the #TaxSystem worse.”

Worth reposting this observation.

A reminder this election a job interview and the winner(s) get(s) to do what they want. You pay for it.

“Our first home buyer #mortgage #deductibility scheme is going to finally give first home buyers the firepower they need to purchase a #home.

We’re going to, through our housing #infrastructure program, deliver more homes for those first home #buyers.

So if you think the status quo is OK, that’s really what #Labor is offering.

The #Coalition (#LNP / #Liberal) believes that home #ownership is something that every generation of #Australians deserve, and that’s precisely what we’ll deliver, if we’re given the great honour of being elected” — #MichaelSukkar

(I've posted this chart before but) here;'s a reminder that if you agree that part of the housing crisis is a lack of affordable housing as well as a more general lack of suitable homes being built - thereby contributing to the ever rising price of homes relative to household incomes - one only has to look at the history of housebuilding to see the problem....

We need more social housing (in the right places, of course) if we are to start to end the housing crisis!

North Carolina Attorney General, Jeff Jackson, has reached a settlement with the landlord company Cortland Management LLC.

“Today’s settlement means one less landlord is using RealPage’s unlawful AI software to charge North Carolinians unfair rents. We’re going to keep fighting this case to make sure all landlords and property managers play by the rules and people can afford rent.

There are still 5 companies he’s still suing, but this is a huge win for a future with fair rent. #housing #rent #economy #Justice #northcarolina #ncpol
