Drove along Loch Ness the other day and the weather was fabulous

Pine Marten
A close encounter from a couple of weeks back. Such a treat to be able to observe these creatures in the wild.
Plus, one of the best cloud inversions I've ever seen in person (which, again, deserved a better photographer) #Scotland #Highlands #Nature #Mountains #cloud
Slightly different walk this evening than usual forest or loch side walk with unfit giant senior dog. He was more enthused than usual, jumping drainage ditches (which his joints will let him know later was a stupid thing to do). Could’ve gone many more miles but the clouds are rolling in… #highlands #dogsofmastodon #dog #walking #greatpyrenees #mountaindog
Mountain Hare Video
A few clips of the beautiful mountain hare I spent time watching yesterday, in the Scottish Highlands.

Having a good scratch today, while enjoying the spring sunshine on the hills of the Scottish Highlands.
In The Way of the #Hermit, Ken Smith offers a profoundly #human portrait of #solitude—not the performative kind, but the hard-earned, bone-deep kind that comes from living off-grid in the #Scottish #Highlands for over 40 years. #BookReview #Books #introvert #introversion #nature #Scotland #Biography #Autobiography #Philosophy

Two days of waterfalls, one old (Corrieshalloch Gorge, also sporadic workplace), one new (Victoria Falls, Beinn Eighe). Pleasing lack of rain. #nature #highlands
A few photos from my most recent research trip - in the north of Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park.
We’ve had this since a 2015 trip to Scotland, but we never had the right place to hang it permanently, before. I think this is definitely its home. #Scotland #highlands #coo
The Deep and the Dark
The River Garry flowing dark and green through Blair Atholl dark limestone and dark schist, graphitic pelite.

Two views around Killiecrankie: gorgeous sunlight on the undulating slopes of Creag Eallaich; a characterful tree by Soldier's Leap beside the River Garry.
I may be a gamer, attempt to write and draw, but the outside matters too.
The frustrating thing is this week's meds mess up means I hurt too much to do the DIY I need to do, and my head is too sensitive, so drawing outside would actually hurt.
So, I will admire the #Highlands from the inside until my meds are sorted and semi-working.
I think I found how to survive the big city. First go to Dougie's chippie, then put car on to charge, feed dog and self. Excellent
