Pewdiepie's message in his latest video is excellent: we don't have to deal with Big Tech's bullshit and Linux and open source is fun and awesome. With his massive audience I'm hopeful that this might become a pivotal moment in the desktop Linux adaptation in the mainstream, especially in the gaming community.

Hi followers, help wanted.
I hear fosstodon.org is not a great place to be anymore. And other communities want to defederate from it.
I had no idea what was going on, but I don’t think I want to be here anymore.
Where should I move? I am from #Denmark, and it could for example be a Danish community. I am also into software development (not a brogrammer), generally interested in combating #climatechange and other #collapse aspects as well as tech #enshittification, and quite skeptical of #AI.

Bosch had a nice feature in its ebike app (Flow): you could lock your bike motor so that it wouldn't start if the display was not in place. The display would then work as a sort of key to your ebike.

I used this feature and loved it.

With the latest update I don't have it anymore. Bosch now says in order to unlock it I need to install an extra module on my bike (around 150 €).

Enshittification is definitely not limited to the tech sector. I'm pissed.

@rei Yeah that’s why I wrote that.

They’re ripe for #enshittification with that initial “pricing” model.

Just wait until they get what they want (which is for M$ to buy them and fold it into LinkedIn’s $40/month plan).

It’s a pity they couldn’t find a more anti-enshittification pricing model.

Personally I’m 100% done with supporting apps that turn around and make their products worse to get me to pay more which is exactly what they’re telegraphing with that pricing model.

#Google is so deep in #enshittification that I begin to believe in pure intent.

#Searching for a special moss, they give me links for the US Marine Corps, AI-generated ugliest wallpaper, and vegan fast food shops. Nothing contains moss.
But it's not only Google! #Ecosia is more on the vegan-esoteric beauty side while #Qwant throws military weapons. No moss either.

The intent? Making people stupid. Then you can better fill them up with #propaganda and #FakeNews. We need #knowledge attacks!

With #Discord gradually moving along the #enshittification path - pcgamer.com/software/platforms - I'm paying more attention to the alternatives.

So a question for the Fedimind: do folks have recommended #Matrix hosts for communities of various sizes? I’m in everything from small 50-person personal Discord servers to 5000-person open-community ones. What's out there with good service and reasonable prices for personal use?

(And are there better alternatives than Matrix?)

If you don't like #AI don't use it.
It's as simple as that.
If a product implements AI and you don't like it, don't use the product.

People bitching non stop about it are becoming the #enshittification themselves.

You don't have to use AI karens.

I don't like mushrooms so I don't eat them. Yes, some places put them on pizza, so I don't buy that pizza.
I don't go to mushroom farms and complain they grow mushrooms and get on facebook and bitch non stop about them.

Choice, use it.
