#duplicity

Lest we forget: “Oliver #Eagleton’s book ‘The Starmer Project’ is packed with detail about Starmer’s political and legal career. It often makes for unpleasant reading: his political life is defined by duplicity; his legal notable for defending the state while prosecuting activists. His leadership bid was an act of fraud”

/1 Confession 🤷‍♀️: not mentioned in the otherwise excellent Tyee article,

I added / raised the issue of Poilievre's duplicitous acquiescence to the far-right / Christian right / Christofascist anti-2SLGBTQIA+ rhetoric / wedge strategy. 😡

I have some old backups on S3 that I have have not accessed in almost a decade. I'd like to download them all (and close my AWS account). What is the best tool to do this on Debian? I find the AWS web interface pretty painful, but I guess if I have to for a one time thing I can do that.

I recently gave the backup tool #restic (restic.net/) a try. It's crazy how quickly I got it all working with a (non-Amazon) S3 backend.

Literally minutes.

Previously I was using #duply which used #duplicity for the backend. But it stopped working with non-Amazon S3 backends a while ago.

Comparing the two, restic is definitely a lot easier to use, with all the capability I need (encryption, deduplication, etc).

I considered #borg, but it works only with directories and SFTP.
