Monster in a Teacup
Humans aren't the only ones who enjoy a spot of tea now and again. Little monsters have been know to slip quietly into kitchens when no one is around and sneak a sip of two of freshly brewed sweetness. Alas, some of these tiny creatures may become so enamored with the tea, that they sip themselves silly and fall into a state of euphoria, causing all manner of behavior.

I think street sketch artists like caricature artists use Sharpie permanent markers because they're cheap and it looks impressive to people that "Hey, you can draw a portrait in 5 minutes with the same thing I use to write on freezer bags???"

There are markers that replicate that dark ink but expressive line.
The really big Pitt artist pen. Bullet nib, off the top of my head.

It depends on if you want your sold artwork to not fade and yellow.

I don't know who needs to hear this.

But Sharpie permanent markers are not archival. They're not even permanent. The ink was formulated to mark boxes and write on tape. It wasn't formulated to make lasting artwork. 😫

Sharpie will begin to fade and discolor pretty damn quick. It'll fade and discolor in a dark garage or attic, even.

Same with highlighters. Same with Bic pens.

I think the problem for me is that they're not recyclable. And they're not refillable via company standards. (There are always hacks 🤓.)
With small tip acrylic markers, you have to buy a whole new set if you run out of several colors.

These sets are being made so fast, in China to meet this fad. I think quality control can suffer (ie, dry markers, leaking markers, transparent colors). That, and customer service might not respond. 😥

I think acrylic markers are having their spotlight fad moment. Alcohol markers had theirs. Fine liner pens had theirs. Gouache had theirs. Watercolors, copic markers, fude brush pens..

For me, it's an accessibility issue. For myself. I can still 'paint' even if I can't get out of bed for whatever reason. 👍🏿
I'm looking for a pack now. (I do mixed media.)

Randomly watched an Instagram post about the absolute burst of acrylic markers on the market and the number of artists that bought them after watching tiktok ads by content creating artists.

Lol I don't watch tiktok. I have it downloaded so I can know what the children are saying and doing. Just in case. 😒

I was lucky and got some Poscas, Montana and Molotow markers super cheap, years ago.
