@Leah96xxx #DarkMode should be mandatory...
No dark mode for SSMS?
SQL Shades to the rescue!
Free version adds plain dark mode to the IDE (fine by me.) Paid version supports additional themes.
This solution is cleaner than the rather hacky approach of modifying ssms.pkgundef to restore a half-finished dark theme commented out by SSMS developers apparently at the last moment.

#Pikchr (pikchr.org) is a great little piece of software from the SQLite folks. It parses a little language for describing diagrams with boxes and lines and things, and puts out SVG.
#OrgMode (orgmode.org) has, among many other things, a way you can make code notebooks, #OrgBabel. Like #Jupyter, but less webby, and inside #Emacs, and supporting many languages - even multiple in the same document - thence its name.
Thanks to the ob-pikchr package by @SReyCoyrehourcq, Pikchr is one of the languages you can just write in the middle of your document this way.
Pikchr supports #darkmode, and I've just made a pull request that gets ob-pikchr in on the dark-mode game.

Many thanks to Sebastien for the help ob-pikchr has provided in diagramming my thoughts! You go use it too!

> Most type considerations for dark mode are exclusively colour. Changing the foreground and background on a toggle or by the user’s OS preferences. But, it shouldn’t stop there. Typographic considerations for dark mode should extend to line height and spacing, font weight, and finally, optical size.

To “light-dark()” or Not to “light-dark()”, by @webstandards:
Somewhat enthusiastic in seeing that Quarto version 1.7 has a much better way of handling dark and light mode output with support in single page html. Combined with imagemagick package, it even allows for automatic colour inversion for images not generated by code.
Big news! I've added *light* and *dark* mode options to the Quarto Extensions listing.
