TanjaI finished the pair of Mittens I started last Tuesday. I'm a tad disappointed by the yarn; the colour started out super vibrant and became muted throughout the same skein. TanjaThe details in that beauty are great, I love all the structure. Lots of bobble stitches in variations. (.... though not as many as in my current WIP) I remember I made this shawl for a MAL over on Ravelry (Make-Along) with the topic Earth and my inspiration was Sedona. The pattern itself was also a CAL (Crochet Along) by the Designers, but I made it later. In any case - I love the composition of this pattern. Bonus - the yarn is from a small yarnwinder in my country. TanjaLet's talk about blocking your crochet pieces. Blocking is magic and can bring your project to a whole new level. TanjaAbout three years ago I took on the adventure "Elf Coat". It was my first Tunisian Crochet Project and what a learning it has been. The pattern and the resources available from the designer are wonderful and I learned so much from her! The following observations are related to my specific project alone. - Don't use acrylic yarn for a garment. The static when peeling this coat off is unreal. - Don't forget gravity: I'm plus size = more yarn = heavier garment = the whole thing stretches when worn. I wanted it to be at my knees, it grew down to my shins. - Did I mention the static? Seriously, I think that surprised me the most. - Tunisian Crochet is not my cup of tea. But I'm happy I tried it out. - Making a garment as a plus size person sucks, unless the garment was specifically designed for plus size. This cowl/hood combination sounded like a great idea and it was really pretty... but it did not suit me at all. I looked so ridiculous in it that I could only let BB-8 model it.

Seriously, I looked like a Jawa. But hey, practice and all that, so all was fine and had its purpose. :-)

Oh, I almost forgot about this beauty! I used 2 Yarncakes and alternated them; I ended up using about 1824 m yarn. It's a pattern by a polish designer, essentially it's just charts and I was so proud that I managed to make it. Being able to read crochet charts opens up a whole new world beyond language barriers. I love it.
