In late Jan, #Trump wrote online, “I LOVE $TRUMP!!” In March, adopting the writing style of a tween, Trump published a follow-up item that read, “I LOVE $TRUMP — SO COOL!!! The Greatest of them all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
But last week, the endeavor reached a new level: A website promoting one of the president’s #crypto offerings launched a contest of sorts, in which those who purchased his #MemeCoin would have a chance to win special #access to Trump.
What was to stop a foreign government, eager to bribe the American president, from quietly dumping money into #Trump’s #crypto project, effectively making direct payments to the president w/o public disclosure? Nothing.
The day after being sworn into office, Trump continued to use his social media platform to promote his controversial #MemeCoin. In the weeks that followed, his efforts continued.
In case anyone needs a refresher as to how we arrived at this point, the trouble began in earnest in January. With just 3 days remaining before his presidential inauguration, #Trump found time to launch one last post-election #grift: Without explanation or defense, the #Republican & his family started selling a #cryptocurrency token.
#Trump & his allies have raked in nearly $900k in trading fees over the past two days from the president’s $TRUMP #cryptocurrency token, acc/to Chainalysis, a blockchain data company. The surge came after a Wednesday announcement in which the top 220 holders of the token were promised dinner w/the president.
When pressed to justify their efforts, the #GOP’s #impeachment proponents pointed to an informant who brought bribery allegations to the attention of the FBI. That same informant was ultimately sent to prison — because he lied to the FBI about Biden.
That said, if there are still ofcls looking for a burgeoning controversy surrounding a president & the potential for… #bribes, do I have a story for them.…
It still seems hard to believe, but in the last #Congress, the #House #Republican majority formally launched an #impeachment inquiry against Joe #Biden. The endeavor never made any sense, but the underlying allegation was that the Democratic president was somehow the beneficiary of a weird #bribery scheme.

#TakeItDown Act has passed the #House 409-2 giving #Trump & the #FTC power to #censor the #internet.
The bill seems good at first glance. It requires online platforms to remove nonconsensual intimate imagery aka“revenge porn.”
However, it will also enable the FTC to demand #content be removed from websites.
In fact, Trump said he will use the bill ON HIS OWN BEHALF, presumably to remove criticism of him from the web.

Even if it "can't happen" because of the US #Constitution, even if it's meant to "own the libs" -- this kind of shit from Team #Trump has to be greeted with outrage and clear rejection of it even being funny. Because
(1) that's how Bad Stuff gets normalized, by doing something provocative and then just calling it a joke and offended parties snowflakes, and
(2) "joking" about violating the US Constitution is sort of like an insult to one's mother: fighting words.
Public sours on Musk’s role, is skeptical that government is cutting waste. Thirty-five percent of Americans approve of the way Musk is handling his job in the Trump administration, while 57 percent disapprove, a Washington Post-ABC News-Ipsos poll shows. Folks, what we believe does not matter to this administration. This must change as polls mean nothing to a despot. https://www.washingtonpost.com/tablet/2025/04/25/april-18-22-2025-washington-post-abc-news-ipsos-national-poll/ #trump #musk #doge #democracy SEE ALSO https://www.thebulwark.com/p/is-the-trump-spell-finally-breaking #corruption #constitution #Congress

Homan insisted that the #Trump admin doesn’t “deport US #citizen #children,” emphasizing instead that the mothers may have wanted to take the children w/them when facing #deportation. If someone chooses to come to the US without the proper documentation & have a child, Homan said, “that’s on you, that’s not on this administration.” Having a child in the United States “is not a get-out-of-jail-free card,” he added.

Speaking to CBS’s “Face the Nation,” Homan said Sunday that he’s not aware of any specifics in the case of the 4-yr-old citizen w/ #cancer, but he dismissed the use of the word “deported” to describe the removal of the American children from the country.
“No #UScitizen child was deported,” Homan said. “Deported means ordered by an immigration judge.”
#Trump ofcls deny #UScitizen #children were ‘deported’ to #Honduras
#TomHoman, Trump’s border czar, insisted Sunday that the Trump admin did not “deport” American children to Honduras — arguing that the White House sent the children to the country because their mothers, who were being deported, wished to bring them.

Lawyers representing the father of the 2-yr-old #UScitizen who was deported, identified as V.M.L. in court documents, filed an emergency petition in the Western District of Louisiana on Thurs seeking her release. The child was put on a plane to #Honduras the next morning before the court opened.
