Lucas C. WheelerThe Pediocactus simpsonii (Simpson's hedgehog cactus/Mountain ball cactus) are starting to flower in the Front Range foothills of Colorado. This is one of my favorite cactus species. LA Plant Genetics'Tis the season. <a href="https://spore.social/tags/nopal" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#nopal</a> <a href="https://spore.social/tags/Cactus" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Cactus</a> (I cut them off using a large rectangular knife and tongs, then scrape the spines off with the knife and cut the pad edges off outside. Once inside, rinse the pads, cut as desired & cook or blanch 1 minute then freeze for later.)1 hour of work yielded two gallons / eight liters of pads to be washed & frozen (some were also eaten for lunch).<a href="https://spore.social/tags/EdiblePlants" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#EdiblePlants</a>
