@disability I’m now putting together an email to send to RNIB about the cuts to the #Braille transcription service, thinking about how it’s helped me in the past and how I was looking to use it again because I’m finding I can’t tolerate reading on my electronic Braille display for long periods any more due to a repetitive strain injury. I’m finding paper Braille much kinder to my hands and fingertips but that the Braille library has a very limited backlist. There are some authors I just prefer to read in Braille. If you want to send your own story and opinions, there’s some pointers on the website here: saveourbraille.wordpress.com/g

Save Our Braille Transcription · Get InvolvedThe RNIB’s decision to cut its free personal transcription service puts access to information, independence, and dignity at risk for many blind and partially sighted people. Your voice matter…

Good morning! Wishing you all a beautiful day filled with sunshine, love, laughter, high energy and positivity. I plan on doing a load of laundry today, I have to! Other than the usual chores, I’ll listen to more of The Quilter’s Apprentice and maybe read some Braille later.

Be kind to yourself and those around you, hug tight those you love most and smile, you are loved and appreciated! 🤗🫶❤️🫂 #GoodMorning #Positivity #Braille #AudioBooks

For all in the UK - please sign and share this letter set up by Connor Scott-Gardner to show your support for Braille transcription services run by RNIB which are being cut | “RNIB has scrapped its free personal braille transcription service, leaving blind people to cover the cost themselves. Large print is still free, this isn't equality! Sign the open letter urging RNIB to reverse this decision”

handy tip. Connecting a Braille display such as the Brailliant, Mantis or BNT Plus to iOS, Android, Mac or Windows, gives instant two way communication for a person who is deaf blind and uses Braille.
Handy option with the BNT Plus as it already has a screen, the unit itself can be used as a two way communication device.
Same thing with the Monarch, plug it in to a HDMI screen, connect a QWERTY keyboard, and off you go.

1. We got two power banks delivered today so will have them for power outages. We had a solar one but it got all warped so we won’t use it anymore.
2. Got an appointment with audiologist for the 17th of April.
3. Started the next Braille book on my list. It is Do You Want to Start a Scandal by Tessa Dare. It is not part of the Spindle Cove series but the main female character was a frequent one from that series so I have to read it. 🤣
Bonus: Closed my fitness rings even though we didn’t get to exercise tonight due to starting a new CMG. I’ve just started using Freestyle libre 3 for the alarms for low and high glucose levels.
Sleep well and may your dreams be out of this world. 🤗🫶❤️🫂 #GoodNight #Braille

Since folks are banging on about #Braille. Could I remind folks its like a sighted person not knowing how to hand write. What do they do when there electronic device isn’t available for some reason???? think the arguments are geting a bit distorted.

Good night! #3GoodThings
1. My little sister got out of prison.
2. I downloaded all the books in the Elm Creek Quilts series in Braille. I’ve read some but it’s been years so I’m hopeful I can start fresh and read them all. Currently, there are 23 books with another one scheduled to be released later this month.
3. Reached all my fitness goals today with flying colors and closed my fitness rings, two of them more than once. 🙌🏻
Sleep well and may your dreams take you to the stars. 🤗🫶❤️🫂 #GoodNight #Braille #Fitness

1. Finished that chapter in Braille and decided on a Kindle book to listen to using Kindle Assistive Reader.
2. Achieved all my fitness goals today and feel good about it. Who knew a smart watch could be such a motivator?
3. Hubs and I finished another audio book. Look in the Mirror by Catherine Steadman. Not the best audio book we’ve listened to but definitely interesting.
Sleep well and may your dreams be out of this world. 🤗🫶❤️🫂 #GoodNight #Braille #Fitness #AudioBooks

@ricky_enger @mcourcel @DavidGoldfield @Ranger1138 @JamiePauls You just sent me 45 years back in time. Oh yes they did and I can't remember which was which between Maxell and TDK and Memorex but one brand used to have a raised print letter A on one side and a print letter B on the other. While the other brand had one raised dot on the one side and 2 raised dots on the other. It felt so much like #Braille letters A and B. I loved it. And their cases felt differently too so you could recognize which brand it was by the feel of the case too.
