Went to check on 3 bald eagle nests today and 2 of them are occupied. Incubation period is 35 days. Should hatch at the end of the month.
Here's a photo of one of the nests taken with a telephoto lens this morning on Vancouver Island. Photo extremely cropped not to give any details about the location of the nest and protect this family of eagles from the crowds.
Bald eagle looking after its eaglet (photo taken last year). After a 35-day incubation period, eggs should hatch at the end of the month on Vancouver Island. Looking forward to it!
Early morning outing on the James River, Richmond VA, USA - I recently went out with Capt Mike of Discover the James (https://discoverthejames.mybigcommerce.com) and had an amazing day. He knows the territories and habits of several birds and you are almost guaranteed to get within 50 feet of your subject. Highly recommended for photographers or anyone that just wants to get REALLY close to nature. #birdphotography #birdstagram #naturephotography #osprey #baldeagle #heron #omsystem #OM1 #microfourthirds #on1pics

I made a video demonstrating the crazy sound of opening an eagle’s foot. This is the eagle I operated on a couple weeks ago.

I watched a bald eagle get mobbed by crows for a while today. Their mate was in a nearby tree also getting mobbed, until they both got fed up and flew off lol
It was fun trying to photograph bald eagles grabing herring from the sea. There were so many bald eagles flying above our head. This one was returning to a tree with its catch.
