@tanquist @toddo previsely that is why #Microsoft, #Adobe, #Oracle, #Cisco et. al. are basically handing out free #licenses (or absurdly discounted bulk licensing deals) to #education institutions given they don't teach competing technologies (i.e. #Linux, #Affinity, #PostgreSQL & #tnsr in these cases)...

Ich finde es wirklich schade, dass #Affinity - die echt gute Adobe Alternativen machen - nicht für Linux entwickelt. Und mit Wine funktioniert es leider auch nicht.

I just cancelled my #Adobe subscription and bought the #Affinity Apps universal license from Serif. https://affinity.serif.com/
I'm not jingoistic in the slightest, but buying from a UK company rather than a US one was a surprising cherry on top. Thanks JD Vance. (Always add the JD, because we've got a *lot* to thank Jack Vance for, and I want nobody confusing numbnuts with brilliance)

Affinity ist super, das nutze ich parallel. Aber wenn du übersetzte Handbücher im Originalformat zurückgeben musst, führt halt kein Weg an der Lock-in-Apotheke vorbei.

Aber ich gebe zu, das passt nicht für jeden.
Ich bin aber froh, dass ich es getan habe.

@HerrKlamauk @darktable Ich habe auch von #Adobe zu #Affinity gewechselt und habe es nicht bereut. Als PDF Anwendung verwende ich nun #PDFGear . Damit ist auch der Adobe Reader weg und es gibt kein Adobe Produkt mehr auf meinen Systemen. Der große Vorteil bei PDFGear ist das Duckmenü, das mir dann doch bei PDF24 gefehlt hat.
I’m super tired. I’ve only slept 2 hours. So after lunch I have made my own Nego game set, designed in #Affinity Designer and glued on foam board with double sided tape. An hour of relax to confront the afternoon. Now I must resume work.

I've been thinking about #Software, specifically #Affinity apps #AffinityPhoto and #AffinityPublisher, and how they differ from #Photoshop and #InDesign most specifically.
The place it's most obvious is the treatment of Layers - Photoshop’s layering is a very direct recreation of the sort of cell stacks anyone who has done traditional animation would understand. Even things like Effects Layers and Masks, they're very of the physical. (1/3)
Gibt es hier welche, die von #InDesign auf #Affinity gewechselt sind? War der Umstieg schwer? Nachdem #Adobe meinen Monatspreis plötzlich verdoppelt hat, habe ich keine Lust mehr auf das Vollpaket. Ob ich auch auf #Photoshop verzichten kann, weiß ich noch nicht …
