@ThreeSigma Remember those fundamental pre string theory issues in #Quantum foundations ? Feynman famously stated that the two slit experiment encompassed all the mysteries. Wave and particle duality are fundamental observables so stubborn that we ended up telling people to just shut up and calculate…because for the standalone calculations we need to do QM is king. #StringTheory is one result of the can continually kicked down the road. It gives us tools we *need* to get to what’s next

2/2…many are generally confused by a certain cadre of #Physicists on the one hand describing tools from #StringTheory they know and love on while calling out it’s flaws on the other (that generally being the failure to cough up a viable #TheoryOfEverything) while failing to mention that these are problems with which the entirety of #Physics has also failed at spectacularly. Watch and you’ll know when folks r using string theory tools as explainers while dissing string theory.

A lot of us were truly surprised years ago when some of the #AngryBirds against #StringTheory came out with statements to the effect that for decades stringers had been *stealing their lunch money* like it had been the only game in town. Many of us had to say Fark ! Where were we ? We missed it !
But now we have the #Internet and #SocialMedia and #Researchers of course will abide dirty laundry in the name of #Science. Come for the shitshow,stay for the science. AMA at the end. BYOB

So Einstein (wasn’t the first) needed some new geometry and dimensionality to get proper symmetry for GR. Later it was found that changes in dimensionality were inherent when computing other theoretical quantities that also turn out to be real. It was only the beginning

In The "Three body problem" the Trisolarians destroy human ability to do basic physics research, because that is the only meaningful way humans can defend themselves against the aliens.

The alien invasion fleet will take 120 years to arrive.

I see parallels with human physics being sabotaged. Our brightest physicists and universities, elevated #stringtheory to a religion...
..and just like religion, it has absolutely no scientific basis.

40+ years of human progress wasted.

Some folks speculate that "Three body problem" is #China soft #Disclosure (in light of this key concept).

@tg9541 OK, I have read Stuart Kauffman’s book “At Home in the Universe”, and am familiar with the concept of ‘emergence’, as well as the philosophical conflict concerning #reductionism. But I am also skeptical of #math substituting for #science - as in #StringTheory.

To get to the point of this limited toot, I recall from long ago the discovery (by radiolabeling) that “biological structures are replaced every 8 weeks”, but more recent experiments refuted its generality.
