Nevertheless, they powered up their ferry just in case, a fact which did not escape the Western observers monitoring the telemetry signals. As soon as it became evident that there was indeed no danger, the cosmonauts re-entered the station and resumed work. But their pioneering spirit appeared to have been broken, and a week later it was decided to let them return to Earth early.
