In today's episode of "things made of wet toilet paper", Godzilla's right flipper's plunger link went onto greener pastures.
Much to my annoyance I didn't have the whole plunger+link part in stock, but seeing the plunger itself was still in okay shape, I just tapped the pin out and replaced the link as I had plenty of extras.
Checking everything else in the mechanism I also noticed all 8 base plate screws were in various stages of being about to fall off and the end of stroke switch was dead.
Dealt with now.

First step was replacing the killer foot switch cord, frayed and exposed electrical wiring. Also cleaned inside the controller. I happen to have period vintage wire ends that are exactly the right size. #sewing #sewingmachine #repair #restoration
Wow, this was a surprisingly detailed article about how to fix a jumpy mouse scroll wheel by fixing or replacing the encoder.
Unfortunately, I do not feel up for this right now actually. It's cool to know it's possible though.

Found a #cellphone that I regularly used years ago, where the original #keypad stopped working and I replaced it with tactile mini switches and attached the replacemend keypad with silicone to the device. Was durable, and still works :-).
Phone is still used irregularly.
