#Why #US #Men Think #College Isn’t Worth It Anymore
Rising #tuition, the spread of more traditional ideas of #masculinity on #socialmedia and a desire for an immediate #income are working together to set boys on a different path.
Nationwide, #males now constitute virtually the entirety of the 1.2 million #student drop in college attendance between 2011 and 2022.

Bloomberg · Why American Men Think It’s Not Worth Going to College AnymoreBy Francesca Maglione

Masculinity needs that "big dick" energy,
"Scott Galloway says we need to shift how we think about masculinity, because loneliness is pushing young men into extreme belief systems. The business leader ...[says] that the problem is partly fuelled by young people's exclusion from the prosperity of previous generations, and having that prosperity shoved in their face every day via social media."

What a Real Man ™️ needs for a hard day of serious work on the construction site followed by hauling stuff on his farm and shooting critters with his assault rifle from the truck. It even tells you how to shoot (concierge) and is truffles lush with "venetian leather." So macho chest hairs will grow.

I must admit I'm surprised. I came across some #statistics outlining there are more gay #men than #women in the #UK.

Almost twice as many in fact, and even adding in #bisexuality it still tilts that way.

Why am I surprised? Well it's simply because it doesn't match my experience.

Over my six decades, I've met dozens of women who were in same-sex #relationships but only four or five men.

I can think of many possible reasons for the discrepancy, but it still feels wrong.

It's very hard to discount your own #experience as atypical. We're hardwired to think we're a representative sample

The good, bad and ugly side of masculinity influencers
By Gemma Breen and Rhiannon Hobbins

Online "masculinity" content is mainstream and wide-ranging — far broader than the toxic Andrew Tate style manosphere or incel culture touched on in the hit Netflix series Adolescence.

"We keep hearing about the #male loneliness epidemic. It's not surprising that some #men have trouble connecting to women, making friends or doing well at work, when they're flocking in large numbers to online influencers telling them to behave like antisocial freaks...

Not that the #MAGA male influencers care... Angry, alienated men are their audience. They can't have men find romantic success & develop robust social lives. Then who would consume their content?"

Jack joined a social media group to find peer connection. But when he suggested posters could be "a bit misogynistic" the harassment started.
