Morning mtb ride with friend ended on a costly note when rear triangle of her fat bike hit a bit of rock in a tricky section and caved in a threaded insert. I don't know much about possibility of repair or if this section is already well reinforced for the insert, but usually carbon seems to be declared totaled when damaged.

#mtb 🚵 ride for this easter monday. We found no eggs 🥚 and no bunnies 🐰 . But there was lot of water, muds and mosquitoes. Also ducks 🦆 ... so much ponds right now, they seems to enjoy. We also surprised a hind , she didn't expect people to tackle these muddie single track ...

Today I went for my first mountain bike ride since October.

The physio had said road cycling up to an hour was OK but mountain biking was a hard NO. But then they broke my rib so ...

My back is still bad but the ride hasn't made it feel significantly worse.

The enduro bike and full face helmet were overkill for the riding I did but I had fun, and I was reminded how much I enjoy it.

The front wheel flop due to the slack head angle was something I'd forgotten about ... and the seat on that bike gets uncomfortable pretty quickly.

Watching people tackle the “around the SF Bay” mountain bike race yesterday and today has been fun. Rooting for my friend Kurt who is currently in tenth place, I got to shout at him as he road up to the entrance to Redwood Park in Oakland. I can’t imagine doing 250 miles and 24k feet of elevation, much of it on dirt, over two days. Endurance athletes are super human, and also a bit crazy.

Here’s the route with live updates:

I wanted to do a really lazy Sunday. But the weather was just too nice.
My wife convinced me to do a less strenuous loop. So I tried to stay under 140bpm and have a nice ride. Unfortunately along a road but with very few elevation.

Today I also had a cereal bar with me and some more to drink (not just plain water).

Enjoy your Sunday!

@ascentale @bikenite A1. #BikeNite Posting from Ventura County, California, as usual. Had some pretty light attendance this last week with my bike team practice group. I have 19 kids on my group roster and one day we had 2 kids and 5 coaches. Spring Break, injuries, illness, school work, multi-sport kids that only show up some days, etc. Kind of a shame because we're getting ready for a race in a week, but life gets in the way sometimes.

On the plus side, since the practice groups have been smaller we've been able to combine groups some days, which is fun. The kids get to socialize with others on the team that they might not normally ride with. (We break up the team into smaller practice groups otherwise we would overwhelm the trail systems.)

The open space in our area is very scenic right now. Green, with lots of flowers blooming. Great time to be out riding. I think we'll only have a few more weeks before it starts getting overgrown in places. #MTB #BikeTooter
