New painting just dropped!

My friend mk saw my post about cursing profile photos and asked for a new banner for its socials. So I delivered. It has a cool hot pink and blank void punk aesthetic across its socials which I frankly love (hot pink is my favorite color) so this was a pleasure to paint.

Any adults in the area with an interest in #maths are clearly awesome and we'd love it if they came!

I am running on coffee fumes this morning, I was unable to set aside the #BritishElection results on the excellent #LBC webcast, run by #ShelaghFogarty and #AndrewMarr - two Celtic fringe journos right? - and watching the implications and results. Well done #Labour, of course, and may they prosper. There's an obvious and intentional intellectual link between #TonyBlair and #KeirStarmer, and that ought to mean good things for #NorthernIreland, just to pick one important example of policy that has been outrageously neglected by the exasperating parade of Tory governments.

Who else noticed the correlation of #Reform with #MK? #FPTP distorts the #British results, leaving #NigelFarage with very few seats. But there's the same underlying groundswell of support, resulting in a sort of stymied electoral resentment led by a populist with nothing to lose.

Also, I just had the strangest sense of deja vu, listening to #Labour MPs commenting on Reform. It's like a problem they haven't thought about. It's all just 'we beat the #Tories and that's what the people want'. The Tories seem to have grasped the problem, but they're currently proposing solutions involving electoral calculus, specifically, should they try to wean voters off Reform, or themselves try to replace or absorb Reform? It felt just like the same failure of imagination here in SA.

WHAT DO THE MK (or REFORM) VOTERS WANT?

It's like the early part of Jaws. The shark's already there, but nobody's taking it seriously.

Two pieces of news which are pretty important if you want to stay involved with #Bletchley & #MK #MathsJam

1. We've settled on a new venue for the Monthly MathsJams. A handful of us went out and tried a couple of places near the Hub in Central Milton Keynes, as we've been bouncing around a bit recently, struggling to find somewhere that worked well for everyone who wanted to attend. We've settled on *All Bar One*, near the Hub in Central Milton Keynes. It's around 15 minutes walk from the railway station and has plenty of parking and bike racks nearby. It's fairly quiet on a Tuesday night and serves food.

2. The current mailing list service is less secure than I'm comfortable with, so we're heading back to Google groups for now.
I believe you can join a Google group without having a Google account, but this requires me to add you manually: if you do not have a Google account (and do not want to make one) please get in touch privately and let me know which email address you'd like me to add. Otherwise, you can add yourself here: https://groups.google.com/g/bletchleymathsjam

3. (I know, I said 2 things...) We now have a WhatsApp group. Message me privately if you'd like to join. It's a bit more active than the mailing list has been, so worth joining if you use WhatsApp.

@MathsJam will be *this coming Tuesday (12th December)* at the Ship Ashore in Willen, MK (https://maps.app.goo.gl/K8LwiVpTD8Ra6YWv6). There's plenty of free parking, and it shouldn't be too busy or loud.

It would be fantastic to see anyone there who has a generally positive disposition towards #Mathematics, whether you're local(ish) to Milton Keynes or just passing through.
