I've been using #LibreOffice for my office suite ever since it was released. Why pay MS money for what another package does free of charge?
I've also been free of that special hell known as Windows for 20 years. :)
@iThreepwood Darum bin ich etwas vorsichtig beim Empfehlen von Linux auf dem Desktop, weil die viel zitierten Alternativen #Gimp #LibreOffice #Bitwig #Mixxx zwar schon gut oder sehr gut sind, aber eben ein anderes Werkzeug. Das benögt unter Umständen grossen Einsatz, der nicht einfach so geleistet werden kann.

Yes, it’s a real pain. Every time I do something in #LibreOffice it sends a notification and I can’t find a way to stop it.
@Extelec The only reason to keep #Windows is software compatibility. If you need to switch to #LibreOffice or #OnlyOffice, you might as well replace Win10 with #Linux and get a secure, fully patched OS
En la Escuela Municipal de Música y Danza Las Gabias utilizan Linux Mint como sistema operativo para el ordenador de la administración. También hacen uso de una instancia privada de Nextcloud con Collabora Office para gestionar la información de todos los alumnos y la escuela. No usan los servicios de #Google y #Microsoft para su correo electrónico, usan el del proveedor de alojamiento, #Acens. Para elaborar documentos, usan #LibreOffice.
Hasta la fecha, sí han podido sobrevivir con soluciones más comprometidas con la privacidad del usuario.
Y ahora, para el próximo curso, voy a impulsar desde la Escuela el uso de #Signal como plataforma de mensajería para todas las comunicaciones profesores-alumnos-familias.
Desafortunadamente no creo que vayan a tener por ahora presencia en el fediverso... aunque como dije, todo es, por ahora...
@heiseonlineenglish Microsoft are right about MS Office being "impractical and too expensive" (and that is not even the worst part about it). They got the solution wrong though. The practical and free and Free (as in freedom and opensource and privacy respecting) is something like LibreOffice → https://www.libreoffice.org/

Been a #KDE user for most of my #Linux using 20 plus years. The other day I was having an issue with an app not looking properly due to scaling and stuff. Had a conversation with a friend were the subject came up and after a little back and forth they asked me if I had considered using a GTK based desktop since I mostly use gtk apps (#Firefox, #LibreOffice and #Qalculate are my most used) #Okular being my most used KDE app.
This is terrible in so many ways, it's a huge waste of resources.
If you are an individual, there is a huge worldwide community that is happy to help you upgrade to #Linux and #LibreOffice
If you would like some help, HMU.
If you are an organisation, I do contact work helping companies migrate from M$ products to free alternatives. There is no reason to continue paying the M$ tax.

Calc provides language specific functions, which is fantastic!
But, is there a way to lookup calc functions in one language and determine what they are called in another language?
For example, converting text to a number -
