Power built on repression always fears #truth. The presence of #LGBTQI+ people is #truth. Just being, openly, without shame, is already a form of resistance. That’s not passivity — it’s radical presence. To exist without hiding is a blow to authoritarianism, which survives through control & conformity. (2/4)

Fear plays a big role. Some fear the loss of control or influence over cultural narratives. Others feel their values are being replaced or marginalised. There’s also projection — those who are unsure or repressed might react with hostility to what they can’t accept in themselves. In some cases, it’s political opportunism: stoking fear of #LGBTQI+ people rallies a base, reinforces tribal loyalty, & deflects from real issues like inequality or climate. (2/3)

The political right’s discomfort with #LGBTQI+ people often stems from a mix of ideology, cultural identity, & fear of #social change. For many, traditional #gender roles & heteronormativity are seen as part of a “natural” or “moral” order. #LGBTQI+ existence challenges those deeply rooted assumptions — not through confrontation, but simply by being.
