hi, oddly specific question: extended family have tasked me with finding some sort of cheap household hardware that i can use for meshing at a slightly larger apartment

i have used a 40 EUR FRITZ!Box with OpenWRT and WPS before, but I cannot necessarily connect the access points together using Ethernet. has anybody else tried this and have anything to recommend (OpenWRT preferred)?

ok linux people, i need a bit of help

what's the current well supported power configuration method?

TLP seems to be highly not recommended for Ryzen 7040 series and newer, PPD seems to be abandoned, tuned seems to lack any configuration tools beyond mingling with the config

Does anyone know software to undistort images and messure within them on a slanted plane by marking a circle of known radius?

i have images of almost all >100 Elna discs and i want to digitize them. i only have access to 24 of them.

Searched a bit around and could not find a good all in one solution yet, or at least none with sufficient information from skimming its description/documentation

plz :BoostOK:

#DuckDuckFedi can I somehow run a subshell that outputs a comma separated list inside of {} brace expansion so that I don’t have to learn how to pipe with xargs?

Simplified example ls -la {something$(ls .)something} to really run ls -la {adir,bdir,cdir}

DuckDuckFedi: I want to send data from a questionnaire to an API and visualize the results (or worst case, download them as csv).
Is there any platform/software that allows me to receive such data?

Data is in the format like

{"Question1": 4,
"Question2": 5,
"Question3": "Long text answer"
}

I was thinking in the direction of @telemetrydeck but I don't think that really covers my use case

does anyone know an online or free tool to work out the best way to get airflow into a room?
something where i can draw a floor plan, mark "people", "ceiling fan", and "air conditioner" then see what the temperature is in a given room after some amount of time. ideally without having to learn how to do fluid simulations by myself.

#DuckDuckFedi whats the best OCR engine i could use to read badly scanned, german supermarket receipts? tesseract struggles with the non-uniform skew and such. i dont care if it needs more compute. can i get tesseract to OCR that with the correct settings or would I be better of with another OCR engine? only open source projets please, and prefferably with documentation in english or german available

#duckduckfedi Please advise.
Is there a way to send a bit of data somewhere from an iPhone in a way that a Linux PC would pick up once it's booted and do *something* with it (preferably in a form of a Python/Ruby script)?

I tried using iOS's #Shortcuts to write to a Dropbox file, and it's doable but tedious to work on and debug.

Hey, fedi, maybe you can help me out!

I'm planning to set up a small website for my girlfriend. I have a domain in mind, I have a VPS where I could host it, I have experience with web dev - but she doesn't. Like, at all.

So I'd like to setup something that she could use herself to edit the page. I guess I'm looking for a simple CMS, cause I'd like her to be able to use a wysiwyg editor. Or maaaaybe a markdown editor with a preview option. No plain HTML editing.

Also, I'd like some 90s flair. It'd be great if the website looks wonky and silly and fun :D
I've seen a bunch of people setting up websites that inspired this idea on neocities, but as far as I can tell I can't self host that, correct? Self hosting isn't a hard requirement, I could always use domain redirection or reverse proxying or something, but I do have a slight preference for self hosting.

As you might be able to tell, I'm not even completely sure what I need, so this question is very open-ended: do you have suggestions on what I could look into?
I've had a brief look at static site generators and frontends for those, but I never used any of them and ran into a few issues with gohugo (the first one I tried) that I wasn't sure were worth debugging cause I have yet to see how any of the admin frontends recommended for it would actually *look* and work.
I also looked at modern CMS options and they all seem to focus on providing professional and clean looking results, which is the opposite of what I want. Sure, a lot comes down to templates and stuff, but I haven't really used any CMS in over 10 years either, so I have a hard time telling at a glance which are actually dead simple to use.

So any ideas would be very welcome! Thanks in advance! :3
