Hmm. How does one word this inquiry...
Do any of you out there in the #Fediverse know of a #windowmanager or a #desktopenviroment that is pretty install-and-forget, similar to #cosmic, which has auto-tiling enabled by default?

I'm tired. I don't want to go hand-configuring two config files and a bunch of lines of things, I just want something that works, and can possibly run on an ITX ARM board with only 8gb of RAM.

As a long-time Sway window-manager user on #Linux, I gave #Cosmic a try today on a new laptop.

I was surprised that it it seems to support all the tiling keyboard shortcuts I wanted use and nearly all my other other configuration.

One feature missing for me was remapping some mouse keys via libinput.

I'll stick with Sway for now because I have it dialed in with no major complaints, but will keep an eye on Cosmic's future releases. Impressed.

The prevailing scientific model suggests the universe originated approximately 13.8 billion years ago from an extremely hot, dense state known as the #BigBang, which initiated a period of rapid expansion and cooling.

#Cosmic #Dawn refers to the epoch, roughly 50 million to one billion years after the Big Bang, when the first stars and galaxies formed, ending the cosmic dark ages and beginning to illuminate the #Universe.

I can't live without the easy access to packages that #nixpkgs gives me, but most of my desktop apps are #flatpak.

Why?

My strategy is that I use nix, nixpkgs and NixOS as playground for environments, build systems and variations of services I need to test - and make containers out of.

This slaughters my i5 2-core :( Which means I need a snappy desktops. in comes #Cosmic, with it's effective keyboard workflow.

#NixOS and #CosmicEpoch is a match made in heaven. It should get it's own ISO.

So! A weekly drive of yee old #Fedora :) That is, first I did workstation, then I did #FedoraAtomic with #Cosmic - because I can.

#Btrfs home subvolume allows this by making it so I don't have to reinstall a damn thing :)

In any case, it's great! GNOME 48 is pretty sleek, though on my machine COSMIC ran better - albeit on a 2013 2 core i5... but yeah, GNOME "felt" more responsive :3

Now I return to #NixOS because I kind of feel naked without it 😭
