chatting with 2 Canadian tourists on the cable car, I apologized for the country and told them I was trying to buy as many Canadian goods as possible.
The wife says people have been apologizing to us everywhere today, people in this city are lovely.
The husband says, there's really nothing you can do.
I say, as soon as there is something I can do, I will do it

Who knew #Toulouse has a #CableCar ?
Here for work for a few days, and even managed to get into town for a wander around and dinner. Amazing #FoisGras and #Cassoulet at #RestaurantEmile !

> Although the territory seems to be closely tied to the cable car and the #glacier, the conflict provides the opportunity to explore alternative approaches to rearranging in response to an uncontrollable and disaggregating glacier stratum.

What I liked the most about Brest is the friendly people and the surreal atmosphere, a city like no another in France, full of history and youth energy, the mixture of industrial and nature, the public signs written in french and Breton. Makes me want to see more of Brittany. The cable car was fun #bretagne #Brittany #CableCar #brest #france

Today, I experienced the Cablebús Line 2 in Mexico City alongside @eta_kivilih. This cable car route provides a striking aerial view of Iztapalapa, a bustling district known for its dense population. Gliding at about 20 km/h, the journey offers a serene escape from the usual urban congestion, presenting a scenic panorama of the city below. All this for just 7 pesos per ride—a small price for such a unique perspective.
I enjoyed building Lego San Francisco but I'm no longer certain that the cable cars are represented on the incline.
Also I didn't know previously that 555 California is one of Trump's largest real estate investments.

...seems to show that SF Muni has better farebox recovery on cable cars (nearly 26%!) than "Street Car Rail" (presumably the historic F Line), and that buses are superior to light rail.
I'm intrigued by these numbers, but I suppose cost per passenger mile is probably a more useful measure, and I'm having trouble figuring out which section has that information.
(PDF link from this @MLNow article: https://missionlocal.org/2024/12/muni-stands-to-be-eviscerated-but-this-would-eviscerate-san-francisco/ — relevant section in the PDF for farebox recovery seems to be the "Operating Expense Detail" section in the bottom left of page 2)
The first section (Stechelberg-Mürren) will be the steepest cablecar in the world (max 159%). Previous record was cablecar Loen‒Syklift in Norway (max 133%).
The official website:
Tomorrow, 2.5 years after construction begin, the first two sections of the new cablecar between Stechelberg and Birg is taken into operation (Stechelberg-Mürren and Mürren-Birg). The last section (Birg-Schilthorn/Piz Gloria) will follow in March.

Today's historic #photo of the day: Exactly 35 years ago today, San Francisco #cablecar no 10 in Hyde St near Washington St, San Francisco, USA, October 23 1989.
This is a one-way section with a dead-end siding at left that as far as I can tell, is part of a convoluted route for California Street cars to run to and from the car barn. The siding, which runs for a couple of blocks, shares one rail with the Powell and Hyde line, with both sides of that rail being the inner edge for one track.
This was already hyped as a phantastic potential option for #Heidelberg. Never heard of it again, now politicans find a #cablecar totally sexy.
Meanwhile: total stasis in any progressive traffic projects.
Okay, Madagascar. That's cool. Can we have bike lanes and sidewalks now?
