While waging the war against the U.S. penny, #CGPGrey has opened a new front against the nickel!

Dazu hatte @cgpgrey@toast.ooo / @CGPGrey@mastodon.social / #CGPgrey mal nen Video gemacht.

Even a soft technically correct decree,
Will make pennies (mostly) cease to be.
Saving billions now lost,
on copper's high cost.
Thus, whichever path lies ahead,
Ding dong, the penny is truly dead. (cgp)

@WhiteCatTamer @generalhavok @QasimRashid since born citizens can't be forcibly made stateless or deported in almost all other countries in the world, I'd consider deportation to be a racist form of penalty.
There's this nice #CGPgrey video that explains it:
I.e. #Germany does extremely-low tuition fees for higher education and universal healthcare not solely "because it's a good thing" or "because health is a human right" but because healthy double-earning academics with children generate way more taxable income, pay way more social security and also spend more money = pay more consumption taxes than illiterates who can barely survive and won't be able to afford good education for their children (which produce negligible tax revenue)...

Thanks to the great #CGPGrey for raising the issue (and giving Virginia a B among the many Fs, sorry we did not get you demonetized) https://youtu.be/l4w6808wJcU
Trust #CGPGrey to inform me that there is an upcoming referendum next week asking #Maine’s residents whether they should update their state flag to a variation of the original 1901 design instead of the current horrid seal-on-blue.
This follows on the heels of similar successful flag reform initiatives like #Mississippi (2021), #Utah (2023), and #Minnesota (2024).

A propos nothing, I was reminded of this CGP Grey video on the name Tiffany:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9LMr5XTgeyI
...which in turn reminded me of this video about the research into the Tiffany video:

You are all welcome.
I have to say this is my new number one favorite explainer video about Proportional Representation and Single Transferable Voting:

(my previous go-to video was by the inimitable CGP Grey, and it's still great if you want more details about the mechanics of STV: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l8XOZJkozfI)
now seems like a good time to remind people about cgp grey's excellent video on picking a yearly theme: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NVGuFdX5guE
Ooh. Interesting set of videos by #CGPGrey.
