Today, April 25, family members, friends, neighbors, collectives and women from neighboring towns gathered in San Gregorio Atlapulco to march to the Xochimilco District Attorney's Office to demand justice for Venus Mireya, a 19-year-old woman who was found dead two days ago, after having been missing since April 6. They also demanded justice for Daniela Michelle, known as “Blue”, who was also a victim of femicide in Xochimilco.
The collectives and family members asked the prosecutor's office to “carry out an exhaustive, transparent investigation with a gender perspective”; and to create concrete actions and public policies for the eradication of gender violence. Finally, they called on the community to unite in an act of memory and resistance, in addition to strengthening community ties against patriarchal violence.
