Arriva PLCArriva Group submits open access rail application to connect Newcastle and Brighton, via London Gatwick New services operated by Arriva’s Grand Central would introduce a direct rail connection between the Northeast and Midlands to London Gatwick and the South Coast. Making better use of available network capacity, the proposed route would connect underserved communities in the UK and enhance long-distance connectivity without the need to interchange through London.   The application reflects Arriva’s wider European strategy to connect people and places through sustainable transport solutions, strengthening regional economies and supporting modal shift.

It’s a bit misty out there this morning but a perfect temperature, so we burned the ground (well, relatively) around Escher’s Eleven this morning. 11.3 km in 58 minutes, with 180 m elevation. The third photo is some wallflowers, a garden escapee, spotted on the verge by East #Brighton golf course. #running

Thu Apr 17 (tonight!) #mercuryRev is touring off their new album that came out in September, their first since 2015. Not in love with the new record - its good but their their breakthrough album (released on 9/11/2001, sigh) is still the album I reach for from this band. Still, should be a good show tonight. Big sprawling cinematic songs and a band thats been around for decades, ya know?

This is the account for queerthemarly.org - we're a #queer organisation looking to buy the premises of a beloved #Brighton #UK pub - historically one of Brighton's few #dyke bars, and also one of the few explicitly #trans friendly pubs in the area. At a time when #transphobia is on the rise we're hoping to make a sanctuary for queers and allies. Sweeps and Speckles. A warm, sunny 10km run down to Rottingdean and back, along Old Parish Lane and over Beacon Hill to the #windmill and its four black sweeps (‘sails,’ if we weren’t in #Sussex.) I haven’t seen many #butterflies yet this year, so it was lovely to spot a Speckled Wood in the hedgerow up the secret passage, exploring the celandines and periwinkles. There was also a skylark on the ground by the mill, still singing its heart out, unconcerned by my presence. #running #Brighton
