@EricIndiana IIRC the UK Tories were wiped out because labour turned towards the center. Their actual share of voters hardly increased but because of the first past the post district system they won an overweging majority. A vast majority build on razor thin but strategic margins. The UK is a deeply rightwing country to occasionally votes in labor to punish the Tories.

Also a huge focus point of Hybrid Warfare from the East(Putin) and the west(Trump). Given #Brexit they are also more vulnerable than initially thought.
