@alexglow As someone full of anxieties about doing stuff like this in RL and on other social media I liberally like and boost ALL THE THINGS here, and it feels good and necessary for lack of an artificial algorithm.
Plus, I get a kick out of seeing that a post I boosted gets a whole bunch of new likes, boosts and interactions. 
We may or may not stop boosting your posts about your incredible new single at some point in the future but that day has most definitely not come yet!

To help resolve the problem @MartinEscardo pointed out at https://mathstodon.xyz/@MartinEscardo/109552785927789702, I suggest the following:
- To follow this thread, follow the #MathInduction tag (#Induction is a cooking tag)
- When posting in this thread, if you're trying out the experiment, add #MathInduction to your post and make sure the visibility is public (not unlisted). You could include other tags that are relevant to your post too.
#FollowFriday for people missing the algorithm
- @popularposts which boosts popular posts
- @freebirdnetwork which toots a list of popular #hashtag
- @feditips and @FediFollows for some info
- #BeTheAlgorithm for more discussion of how to find good posts
I'm working on my curation of mastodon - remember, here we must #BeTheAlgorithm. The Advanced Web Interface in the browser is pretty intuitive once activated. Took me a little while to work out how to get beyond 3 columns but I'm there now! Here's how I did it. #mastodontips
First of all, I activated the AWI
Series of screen shots coming so each needs its own toot I think, to follow...
I still have another 2 weeks with my arm in plaster which gives me time this weekend to:
1. Curate my Mastodon experience #BeTheAlgorithm
2. Find new Mastodon friends on this instance and others
3. Find old friends here and encourage more lovely folks to come and join in here from the Other Place
4. Bung some quids to support the upkeep/upgrade of this server
5. Phone my mum 
Apologies - too much boosting can be a bit overwhelming, so for my own sanity and productivity I'll have to mute the above post (at least for a while).
Nevertheless, keep boosting/re-tooting/reblogging all those great people around you - especially if they are just starting out!
To add to the above:
Since there is no #algorithm it is really important that you #boost interesting posts by others.
A star (liking) does nothing to help increase a post's visibility beyond the original author's followers.
I know it is strange coming from 
, but it really is the only way to increase a post's audience.
So #BoostAllTheThings (if you like them) and you will notice others will do the same to your content. Here we're all in it together!
