Today's small friend is this female ruby-throated hummingbird, making her first recorded visit of the year to the hummingbird feeder. She's also been taking advantage of two kinds of native honeysuckle, so I think she likes it here. :3
We're both gonna have to work at being less jumpy around each other, though. 
Flycatchers are not unusual for our area, but this was a first.

Today's small friend is this northern mockingbird who, in true mimic fashion, has learned to cling to the finch feeder like a finch.
#BirdCallOut Cactus Wren! In my tiny backyard! I saw a medium sized bird at the water bath, and at first I thought it was the mockingbird we haven't seen around in the past couple weeks. But when I grabbed my binocs, I saw it was a Cactus Wren. These are sometimes seen (more often heard) in the nearby arroyo, but this is the first time I've seen one in our yard!
This grackle really reminds me of a bird from some animated show or movie, but I can't quite place it.
These White-throated Sparrows will be heading north in a few weeks. We'll miss you when you're gone.

There are Sheep with an increasing amount of lamb again near the house. Yesterday a lamb was born right before my eyes.
The lambs attract a lot of visitors, especially families with children. But also Red Kite, Ravens, a fox and... to my great surprise Yellow Wagtail! Four of them 
I once recorded one flying over, but until now never saw them in my surrounding.
O! And the Lesser Whitethroat has arrived! Still waiting to see my first common Whitethroat.
Seems like there may be a pair of nesting Fish Crows in the neighborhood. This bird has been hanging around recently and is very "talkative."

Bonus small friends: a gold finch and a house finch who can't believe what you've just told them.
