Star Trails and Aurora

We live in Central Scotland, well, East central Scotland I guess? Is it important? I think that in relation to the sky we look at then, yes, to an extent. If you are looking at my photographs and thinking of Scotland, where we are in relation to Aurora Borealis in the far North, then it gives you some perspective into why we see what we do, right?Whatever, we are lucky that we get to see Aurora quite often.

Aurora Borealis in der Nacht vom 16. auf den 17. April, Blickrichtung Nord in der Feldmark zwischen Köhn und Schwartbuck im nördlichen Kreis Plön. An diesem Teil des Nachthimmels war nach meinen Informationen in besonderem Maß mit Polarlichtern zu rechnen.

Drei Fotos: Nächtliche Weitwinkleaufnahme des sternenübersäten Himmels von einem erhöhten Standpunkt aus, im Vordergrund silhouettenhaft leicht hügeliges Gelände, links am Bildrand der Stumpf einer abgebauten Windkraftanlagen. Die Polarlichter in der rechten Bildhälfte als purpurn leuchtende senkrechte Streifen, dicht über dem Horizont durchscheint grünliches Licht dünne Schleierwolken und bringt sie zum Leuchten. Im oberen Bildbereich ist der dunkle Himmel leicht purpurn gefärbt.

Hoje estamos a ter um espetáculo de luz de despedida do inverno.

É difícil captar a experiência de ver no céu o que parece labaredas verde pálido, a movimentarem-se exactamente como chamas. Chamas que aumentam de intensidade, abrandam e ficam estáticas no céu a ondular e vibrar ligeiramente, dividindo o céu a meio como que uma parede celestial.

Hoje foi digna de uma experiência religiosa, que só se vê uma por década.

Foto de uma aurora, directamente acima de nós, dividindo o céu a meio - num lado uma névoa verde com o que parecem ondas, que parece explodir para o topo, em que vemos o céu escuro.
