@yesterbits I'd also say... each instance has its own local communities, as well. (I can't say that I've really settled into any instance's local community (well, I follow almost everyone on cronk.stenoweb.net, because that instance is basically the semi-official #68kMLA IRC instance), though, more floating between things.)
Oh, one other thing to note: suspended and silenced instances and users. Some instances have a light touch and don't suspend or silence much, some have a heavy touch.
