El fútbol  y la propia estructura del Mundial son caóticos por naturaleza. Un empate, un cruce distinto o un tercer clasificado inesperado pueden cambiar por completo el destino del torneo. En lugar de buscar certezas, este proyecto apuesta por algo más honesto y, creo, más interesante: 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗱𝗮𝗱𝗲𝘀 𝘆 𝗲𝘀𝗰𝗲𝗻𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗼𝘀.\n\nA través de 𝘀𝗶𝗺𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗼́𝗻 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗹𝗼, 𝗲𝗹 𝗺𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗹𝗼 𝗲𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘂𝘁𝗮 𝗲𝗹 𝗠𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘁𝗼 𝘂𝗻 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗼́𝗻 𝗱𝗲 𝘃𝗲𝗰𝗲𝘀 y permite observar qué suele pasar, con qué frecuencia y bajo qué combinaciones de resultados. Para ello me apoyé en dos sistemas de fuerza distintos, el ranking oficial FIFA y el sistema Elo, lo que además permite comparar cómo cambia el comportamiento del modelo según el enfoque utilizado.\n\nEntre los resultados aparecen cosas llamativas. El modelo identifica un campeón más probable y, según las simulaciones, España podría perfectamente volver a coronarse campeona del mundo. Pero más allá del campeón, el verdadero valor está en entender cómo influyen los detalles: por ejemplo, cómo cambian las probabilidades de llegar lejos si un equipo clasifica primero o segundo de grupo, algo que afecta mucho más de lo que suele pensarse al camino eliminatorio.\n\nUno de los mayores retos del proyecto fue, por un lado, 𝗺𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗹𝗮𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲 𝗹𝗼𝘀 𝗰𝗿𝘂𝗰𝗲𝘀, especialmente el sistema de mejores terceros del nuevo formato con 48 selecciones; y por otro, 𝗰𝗮𝗽𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗿 𝘆 𝗮𝗹𝗺𝗮𝗰𝗲𝗻𝗮𝗿 𝗲𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲 𝗹𝗼𝘀 𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗼𝘀 en cada iteración para transformar toda esa complejidad en visualizaciones claras, intuitivas e interactivas.\n\nFue un trabajo intenso, pero también uno de esos proyectos que se disfrutan de principio a fin, mezclando fútbol, datos, simulación y, sobre todo, curiosidad, sin dejar de ser riguroso.\n\nPuedes leer el artículo y también entrar al dashboard en el enlace del primer comentario.
