One of the things I've been repeating a bit at my new job, is probably also worth sharing here:

"Most people have no realistic way to estimate the quality of our offering, except by looking at how pretty our websites are. So making sure they're at least half-way decent is worth doing."

$Job has some damn fine techies, who are very skilled. They do good work. But no designer in-house...
