A very unhappy people, yes, everywhere they tried to perch belonged to Castle Sugar, Incorporated, or the Catholic Church.
Though I am also under the impression that a lot of widely distributed [sic] beliefs about the rennaisance period are sort of corporate-plutocrat tellings of that period as the dark times before their modern ascension.

I had an enlightened history teacher in high school. He started us off reading an essay called "History as a Branch of Fiction"
@dougmerritt Distributism...? Oh, I hadn't heard of it by that name. But the concepts (in the article) seem pretty familiar. Seems sane, I guess.
