On the subject of moderation of Mastodon: if this instance grows and the moderation workload grows correspondingly, at some point @ColinTheMathmo and I won't be able to keep up in our spare time.
The problem is that anyone can post whenever they like, but only authors or moderators can delete. What if anyone could delete anything? The failure state of that is an empty instance, instead of an instance overrun with nazis and spam. I prefer the former!
@christianp both sound good if data remains exportable. Will users be able to appeal with admins later?

Or a less drastic option: anyone can mark anything as private. So permalinks and notifications still work, but the timeline stays clean.
