I don't know R, and I'm following a tutorial, so I just started installing tidyverse. It appears I'm in a TeX Live situation - just how much stuff is it installing?

@christianp more importantly: is it more or less than your node_modules folders combined? 😆

@christianp Just a complete statistical computing system and the associated programming language, all running within one 😅 (FWIW, I find tidyverse much neater than base R, but it sure complicates learning that there are two partially compatible approaches to R.)

I have to note the last time I updated R on my work machine it said it was transferring 1046 packages. I mean yes I work with R everyday but its not like the analysis changes.

Although its no worse than Python packages...
