Should I choose rsync.net hosting in USA or Switzerland? At some point in my life I was determined to locate all of my servers outside the USA, but maybe is just privacy theater. Backups will be encrypted, probably initially with duplicity, because that is what I know. #LazyFedi
@bremner But both are run by the same US company, so it makes little difference, probably.
The US government can just as easily order the US company to delete/copy/prevent access to your swiss data as they could the US one. The facilities for that exist already, given that automatic replication between locations is provided.
The only difference would be nuclear threats, I guess.
@bremner But then you are in Canada, so if the US gets nuked, you're sorta SOL anyway?
