Why doesn't French have a word for #pet? I feel like "animal for company" is such an awkward circumlocution.
@minego Huh, Spanish has "mascota" which comes from French "mascotte"! Which means something like a good luck charm? And in English acquired a slightly different meaning, although inspired by the good luck charm.
