Sigh, I don't know what to do with this #screenplay I #amwriting. I want to have a very punchy opening scene. I want both a side character to stumble upon the MacGuffin, and I also want the villain to be the first character the audience gets a glimpse.
I can't have both, of course.
Maybe I should remove the MacGuffin-finding scene? After all, MacGuffins by (some) definition(s) are something the audience doesn't care about. Guess I should stick to my original villain-first plan.
@JordiGH The Fellowship of the Ring movie opens with flashbacks to Sauron and shows the Ring. Then you know what happens.
